Red Oak Hardwood Flooring

Red oak varies in color depending on whether it is sapwood or heartwood; sapwood is usually lighter in color. Generally, however, red oak is significant in its medium tan to dark brown colors and its reddish hue. With time, the color of the hardwood will become more amber. It has open graining, and is very similar to the grain of white oak, except for the fact that it is coarser. On the plainsawn boards, the graining has a flared look, while on the riftsawn boards, there is a tighter graining apparent, and on the quartersawn, one can notice a flake pattern. Depending on your taste, red oak hardwood floors are available in both prefinished or lacquered, or unfinished. They are also available in 3 strip hardwood flooring. Red oak hardwood flooring is very rich in color, and the reddish hue gives a very exotic and lively appearance to the room.
