White Oak Hardwood Flooring

White oak hardwood flooring is a very traditional hardwood flooring in America. White oak is usually light brown, and depending on the type of board, the grain is different. The color and texture remind one of ancient castles and cozy country homes. Usually the grain is open and has a few swirls and burls. On plainsawn boards, the grain is flared, on riftsawn boards, the grain is tighter in appearance and is low figuring, and finally, in quartersawn boards, there is a flake pattern. Usually, white oak is 4 to 16 inches in width, has lengths anywhere between 6 to 14 feet, and ranges from ½ an inch to ¾ of an inch in thickness. They cost about $8 to $14 per square foot, and incorporate a tongue and groove system. White oak hardwood flooring looks beautiful and clean in any home, and gives it a very cozy, natural appearance.
